The Learning and Development (L&D) Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing learning strategies and skills development initiatives to enhance employee capabilities and career growth. This role will play a key part in driving a culture of continuous learning, ensuring employees have access to the resources and training required to meet business objectives. The L&D Specialist will also oversee training programs, monitor their effectiveness, and align learning initiatives with the company’s goals.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Learning and Development Strategy:
•Develop and implement learning and development strategies that align with business needs and industry trends.
•Conduct skills gap analyses to identify learning needs across different departments.
•Collaborate with leadership to create training roadmaps for various roles.
•Establish policies and best practices for training and employee development.
•Skills Development and Training Initiatives:
•Design and coordinate skills development programs, workshops, and e-learning initiatives.
•Partner with external training providers, institutions, and regulatory bodies for certifications and professional development.
•Ensure compliance with relevant skills development legislation, including SETA requirements where applicable.
•Manage the administration of learnerships, bursaries, and internships.
Training Delivery and Employee Development:
•Facilitate in-house training sessions and development programs.
•Monitor training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
•Support managers in coaching and mentoring initiatives.
•Maintain learning records and track employee progress.
Project Management and Reporting:
•Plan and execute L&D projects, ensuring timely and successful implementation.
•Prepare reports on learning and development activities, impact, and ROI.
•Monitor training budgets and optimize resource allocation.
Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in learning and development, training, or a related role.
Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms.
Ability to develop and implement learning and development strategies that align with business needs and industry trends.
Knowledge of South African skills development regulations and SETA processes.
Experience with digital learning tools and content creation.
Skills/ Knowledge:
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Excellent facilitation and presentation abilities.
Strong analytical skills for assessing training effectiveness.
Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Certifications in Learning and Development, Coaching, or Talent Management.
